Bottling

Introduction

Once you’ve finished monitoring and determined it’s time to bottle, you’re ready for the next step of my my standard recipe. During this step you’ll move the cider from the carboy into bottles.

Ingredients

Equipment

  • Sanitizer
  • Bucket or spray bottles for sanitizer
  • Siphon
  • Bottles
  • Caps (unless using swing tops)
  • Labels
  • Bottle capper

Process

  1. Wash and sanitize all equipment
  2. Boil water with sugar if bottle carbonating
  3. Measure the final gravity of the batch
  4. Measure PH
  5. Prepare the siphon (or auto-siphon)
  6. Siphon from the fermentation vessel into the bottles
  7. Put caps on the bottle
  8. Label the bottles
